Playstation 3's Stolen from Elmwood UPS Distrobution Center!

update: engadget -- Sal

Well you can see from the link here and here that 3 UPS employees stole about $19,000 worth of PS3 equipment that was supposed to be shipped to various retailers.  I thought shipments to our area seemed to be a bit lighter than what other retailers were getting around the country.  Whats even more interesting is how the Ebay market for the PS3 has all but collapsed as more and more auctions end with only a bit above retail price, or with no bids at all.  The sudden drop in demand could be from the bad reviews that call the PS3 the biggest flop of 2006, or because the demand for a premium console at the price of $599 has turned away would be purchasers and forced them to look into other options such as the much cheaper Wii, or the 360.  It could also be that the new site Notifywire has become a useful tool for those who are sick of being price gouged or forced into expensive bundle packages.

If you had wanted one bad enough, and had checked the site early enough you could have found the 20gig version of the PS3 on woot.com for regular retail price!  They also have a link on the front page of the system that if you click on the picture of the PS3 the people at Woot spelled out Wii Rox using the PS3 boxes.  I believe they sold 80 units in about 4 minutes.
